History

Incorporated in 1923, Nelson River Construction was originally known as Fowler & Young Contracting Engineers. Although many would think the company’s name originates from the river of the same name, which is located in Northern Manitoba that is not the case.

The origin of our current name came out of a gentlemen’s gathering where a past generation of owners would get together to unwind and talk business. It was during a game of bridge that the founding owners of the company decided to call the company Nelson River Construction Company Limited.

In 1972, we got a little creative and developed our current logo, it was presented with the catch phrase “Something New for 1972”.
